To understand how to unblock your chakras, you must first understand what your chakras are. Chakras are each of the centers of spiritual power in the human body, usually considered to be seven in number. The colors typically associated with the chakras are the same as the rainbow.

Starting at the bottom or Root Chakra is Red, followed by the Sacral Chakra which is Orange, Solar plexus is next to being Yellow after that is the Heart chakra green, Throat is Blue, the Third eye is Indigo, and last but not least the Crown Chakra is Violet or purple. Each Chakra has a job to do, but if one chakra isn't working correctly the rest may also be hindered.

In Sanskrit text the chakras have the following names:

Starting from the 7th chakra and working down to our 1st.

Crown - Sahasrara, or "Thousandfold"

Located on the top of the head, the crown chakra is associated with the colors violet, gold, and white. The main issues we see when this chakra is blocked are Spirituality, depression, confusion, sensitivity to pollutants, epilepsy, and Alzheimer's. The endocrine gland it is energetically connected to is the Pineal Gland and the body parts are the upper skull, cerebral cortex, and skin. The sense this chakra gives is beyond any of our known senses

Third Eye - Anjna, or to perceive, to know

Located above and between the eyebrows, the Third Eye chakra is associated with the color Indigo. The main issues we see when this chakra is blocked are intuition and wisdom. The endocrine gland it is connected with energetically is the pituitary gland and the body parts are the eyes and the base of the skull. This is where you get the "Sixth sense" feeling.

Sacral - Svadhisthana, or "Sweetness"

Now that you know about the seven chakras, where they are located, and what they stand for, we can start talking about how to unblock them.

Here are 5 simple ways to unblock your chakras:

1. Using Crystals

The crystal method is a method that utilizes crystals to activate and open chakras. Each crystal is held directly over the chakra for 3-5 minutes. Or it can be laid on the body for a more in-depth experience.

2. Sound Therapy

Sound therapy can be used in many different ways. Some as simple as turning on the radio and hearing a song that you really enjoy the sound of. But the sound therapy I am talking about here is Tibetan singing bowls. These bowls are of different sizes and produce different frequencies. And each chakra has its own frequency that it resonates with. To educate yourself further on sound therapy click here. Other sound therapies include Isochronic tones and Binaural beats.

An Isochronic tone, or Iso-tone, are regular beats of a single tone that are used aside monoaural beats and binaural beats in the process called brainwave entertainment. It is a tone that is turned on and off rapidly which creates a sharp and distinctive sound. To listen to a Chakra balancing Iso-tone click here.

A Binaural beat is an auditory illusion perceived when two different pure-tone sine waves, both with frequencies lower than 1500 Hz, and less than 40 Hz difference between the two are presented to a listener dichotic, which means through one ear each. These are best listened to with headphones.

3. Reiki/Self Reiki

The definition of Reiki is " A healing technique based on the principle that the therapist can channel energy into the patient by means of touch, to activate the natural healing processes of the patient's body and restore physical and emotional well-being. " Reiki can be used in conjunction with opening the chakras and balancing them. This can either be a hands-on or hands-off approach and typically sessions last anywhere from 30 min to 1 hour.

4. Essential oils

Utilizing essential oils to unblock chakras is a great way to not only balance your energy but you'll smell great too! below is a list of a few different oils you can use for each chakra:

1. Root chakra - Frankincense, Patchouli, Vetiver, Cedarwood

5. Throat Chakra - Jasmine, Cypress, Peppermint, Eucalyptus

6. Third Eye Chakra - Helichrysum, Rosemary, Marjoram, Clary Sage

7. Crown Chakra - Myrrh, Gurjum, Rosewood, Lavender

Remember, when using essential oil to always use a carrier oil such as fractionated coconut oil, olive oil, grapeseed oil, or canola oil to reduce any sensitivity to the skin.

5. Meditation

Meditation is used for a wide variety of things. Anxiety and depression, relaxation, soul searches, answers from beyond, and more. Why not use it for inner healing? You can do this with a guided meditation class specific to balancing and unblocking chakras. If you can't find a class, there is always YouTube. Or sit quietly in a room and turn on some nice soft relaxing music and see where the meditation takes you. As long as you set your intent on what you are trying to achieve in the meditation time, you will do it.

And there are 5 easy ways to unblock your chakras. Don't worry if you don't feel anything at first. It takes a lot of practice, energy, and time to really focus on balancing these. Once they're balanced you will notice a huge difference in your daily life, personality, openness, and perspective.
